ABOUT ANNETTE

Dr. Annette Bradford is currently a team member on the Perry 175 Campaign, a collaborative initiative dedicated to remebering celebrating, and reflecting on the 175th anniversary of Commodore Matthew Perry's expedition to Japan. As part of this, she is creating opportunities to increase US-Japan engagement and putting together a book. She recently completed a Japan Foundation Indo-Pacific Partnership Program Fellowship researching the implementation of maritime security capacity-building activities. Annette also consults for Oxford EMI, a leading consultancy and training organization for higher education internationalization and English-medium Instruction (EMI) teacher professional development. She is based in Tokyo, Japan.
Annette is known for her work in the field of internationalization of higher education and English-medium education, particularly as it relates to Japan. She is available for consulting, speaking engagements, or academic editing.

Call for Book Chapter Proposals
Commodore Perry and the Black Ships Legacy
We invite proposals for book chapters for an edited volume to be published in 2028. Chapters should provide new understandings of the Perry expedition or of its impacts on Japanese society and international relations.
